A weekend for him…not always about me.

This weekend was a great reminder about how it is not always about me.

Me and my husband have been together as a couple for almost 11 years, this summer. One of my favorite things about us as a couple is, we still enjoy each other’s company very much. I absolutely LOVE quality time with him. We laugh, we joke, we argue sometimes, we annoy each other, we eat, we do the stuff most couples do, I suppose. We are best friends.
I have to admit, I’m pretty spoiled by my husband. Meaning, things go my way a heck of a lot of the time. He is always catering to me in his own special ways. He’s super easy going and laid back and willing to do most of whatever I want. Not every single thing, but he goes along with my plans 98.5 percent of the time. Let’s face it, I have some great ideas. lol As long as I’m happy, he’s happy. You know, “happy wife, happy life.” Okay, but seriously though, I want him to feel just as spoiled as I feel.

There are certain things that genuinely excite my husband like nothing else though. Some of those things are:  food, cars, baseball and of course…ME, duh! Lol (the order is debatable.)

I was so excited to spend this weekend indulging in the things that my man loves. He indulges in my things so often. It’s important for me to see him smile over the things he loves that have nothing to do with me.

We hit the road from Houston to Fort Worth, TX to watch the TCU Horn Frogs beat Texas Tech: 13 to 6. Neither of us are TCU alumni, but that’s his fave college team from baseball to football. So, Go Frogs. *does weird horn frog hand symbol thing.*
It was GORGEOUS outside! We sat in general admission up on the grass hill. I was so relaxed. I brought my journal so that I could write (instead of complain) when I got bored. I did get bored, the 6th inning was too long. But, he was happy. I just dove into writing my thoughts and let my babe enjoy the game he loves.

After the game ended  we headed to Dallas to stay the night at the Omni hotel. I mean, this was more of a treat for me. I like pretty hotels. So, I kind of cheated a little bit and slid in a treat me too. But, in my defense, I wanted to find a place close to the Gas Monkey Garage.

Garrick loves watching Fast N Loud and he is obsessed with the Gas Monkey gang. So, of course, we had to swing by and get some merch.

The garage itself was closed, but we could see some of the cars inside the gate. He was able to get a shirt and he was still super hype about it.

We went to the Gas Monkey Bar and Grill for food. It was cool. We sat outside on the open seating patio and there was a band playing. Nice breeze, beautiful day, and cold beer and cider.

Garrick’s Gas Monkey burger looked delicious. I don’t know how he was able to finish with out me asking for a bite. Maybe because I was busy with my Gas Monkey Brisket Grilled Cheese. No picture of my food, just believe me. It was good.

Here’s Garrick’s burger. Unfortunately, you can’t see the candied bacon. He did break me off a piece of that, and I could have shed a tear. So good!

We only were gone for a day. But, it was such a refreshing weekend. There are so many things that can make me smile…but my man being as happy as a kid in a candy store, that sends me to the moon.

I just want him as happy as he makes me. I love it when I’m reminded that it’s not always about me.

Ladies, he’s important too. Do some of the things he likes.

  1. Awwww so sweet! Definitely a reminder to cake care of the ones who always look out for you! Looks like a fun weekend. I’ve been meaning to take my hubby on a surprise trip to Austin, this is just the inspiration I needed!
